Senior National Team Coaches

Head Coach

Meng Chen (pronounced MONG CHEN) has been on Canada’s national coaching staff since 2008. She is the Head Coach of the Senior National Team since Fall 2012.

She was one of Canada’s three coaches at the 2012 Olympic Games, the 2011 Pan Am Games where Canada won two gold medals to qualify for the Olympics and the 2009 and 2011 FINA World Aquatic Championships helping Canada to two bronze medals in the combo event.

She was head coach of the Canadian Junior National Team which earned three bronze medals at the 2010 FINA World Junior Championships.  Meng Chen is originally from China and represented her country in synchronized swimming as an athlete at the 2001 FINA World Aquatic Championships. Before coming to Canada, she was head coach of the Malaysian national team for four years.

She is also only one of three synchronized swimming coaches in Canada to have reached level 5 in the National Certified Coaching Program.

Anastassia Goutseva has been a part of the Senior National team coaching staff since 2010, including during the 2012 Olympic Games. She has her level 5 with the National Coaching Certification Program.
    
After she trained in Soviet Union, she competed for Belarus when the USSR dissolved in 1991.  She joined the coaching ranks in 1998 in Greece, first with clubs, then with the national team in 1999, including the senior and junior teams. She was the Head Coach for the Greek Senior National Team since 2005 including at the 2008 Olympic Games and at the 2005 and 2007 FINA World Aquatic Championships, and for the Junior National Team at the 2006 and 2008 FINA World Junior Championships.

A competitive synchronized swimmer from 1986 to 1998, Kasia Kulesza represented Canada at the 1996 Olympic Games where she won a silver medal in the team event and at the 1998 Commonwealth Games where she won a gold medal in duet. At the 1993 FINA World Junior Championships, she won a gold medal in the team event and a silver medal in solo, duet and figures.

First coaching at Montréal Synchro club, she started with the Senior National Team in 2005. She was an assistant coach at many international competitions for the Senior National A and B team, including at the 2010 FINA World Cup.

Coach
Lyne Piché has been a Senior National Team coaching staff member since 2010. She coached synchronized swimming for more than 30 years, including with Dollard Synchro, Aquana and Alliance clubs. Her first experience as a National Team coaching staff member was in 1991. Since then, she was the national junior team assistant coach at the 2008 and 2010 FINA World Junior Championships, the head coach of the under-15 national team in 2006 and co-head coach of the same squad in 2007.  She was an assistant coach with the Senior National B Team at three international events.
