Officials Training
Domestic Officials Summit
The Synchro Canada Officials’ Team would like to invite you to our Domestic Summit and Outreach sessions which will be taking place at the Annual Convention in October.
This convention is a great opportunity for domestic officials from across the country to assemble and discuss the challenges that we face. Not only do we have some great sessions planned for our domestic stream, but we also have the opportunity to chat and exchange ideas with officials from all levels of the sport.
We have 3 great sessions planned for the event. They are:
Officials’ Outreach and Training:
Leslie Taylor has a variety of sessions planned for the seminar which include:
- Judging Figures: Emphasis on 13-15 and Junior levels. Examples will be taken from various levels of competition including some provincial level and national level events.
- Judging the Free Combination Routine: This session will focus on all components of the combo.
- Judging Difficulty in routines: Judges’ session will focus on routines in the 6 – 8.5 or 9 ranges.
- Recognizing Difficulty in Highlights and Hybrids: This is an area of our sport that is evolving very quickly. Many judges have suggested that this would be a beneficial topic for discussion.
Implementing an Evaluation System:
Lynda Furniss will discuss how to use the Synchro Canada Evaluation program to help evaluate your provincial judges. The goal here is to train key persons from each province to evaluate level 1 and 2 judges using the Synchro Canada evaluation program.
Updated Officials’ Training Manuals:
Jackie Hiscock will present the concept behind the new Officials’ Training Manuals for Level 1 and 2 judges and referees..
The Officials’ Team is very excited about this convention and we hope that all provinces will take this opportunity to send at least one official who can have an impact in their province. The goal is that the information discussed here will be taken back to each province and presented to officials of all levels.
If you have any questions about the sessions that we will be offering or any suggestions you would like to make please feel free to contact Nancy Reed at nreed@tenaquip.com.
Looking forward to seeing you all in Winnipeg!
