“Excellence can be obtained if you care more than others think is wise, risk more than others think is safe,
dream more than others think is practical; expect more than others think is possible.”
Before you read the rest of this letter, I want to say thank you. Your involvement in synchronized swimming shapes the lives of young women in your home, your neighbourhood and across Canada. When it comes to amateur sport, the people you support today are the leaders of tomorrow. I thank and congratulate you...helping a young athlete is one of the best investments you will ever make...and they are forever grateful. How do I know this? From the first time I jumped into a pool at seven years old, until now when I stand on the podium, I think about the people who helped me get where I am today. Through this letter I invite you to join me and Synchro Canada as we broaden our support of young Canadian synchronized swimmers. I invite you to “dive in” and become a supporting member of the Synchro Canada Club Excellence Program. For the first time in our history Synchro Canada is reaching out to “synchro” families across Canada. Your financial support of the Club Excellence Program pays dividends to swimmers and synchro clubs in every province and territory. The program has national scope with a focus on regional and local athletes and clubs. You may decide to give $50, $75, $100 or more. I encourage you to give something, anything... whatever amount is meaningful to you. Twenty-one years ago my mother first started taking me to synchro lessons. It was during the drives to competition and early-morning workouts where we bonded. Synchro is where I began to realize that with hard work and dedication everything is possible. My mother didn’t push, she guided. She was always there. She was supportive and respectful of my decision to pursue synchro at the highest level. It wasn’t just her, there are so many people who helped me...a girl from Rivière-du-Loup...achieve my wildest dreams. With your support you will be directly tied to the future wave of young women who gladly trade idle time with a focus on physical fitness, teamwork and the pursuit of personal success. Every child has different dreams. All we can do is provide the tools and opportunities to reach for excellence and be their absolute best. That is why I strongly urge you to become a supporter of Synchro Canada and the Club Excellence Program. I’ll tell you why... To this day, waking up early every morning is a joy for me. I look forward to working out with my teammates. Challenging myself. Pushing my limits. I owe this “joie de vivre” to synchro and the parents and volunteers who, for years, quietly went about their business for me and my fellow swimmers. No matter what age you are or at what level you perform, synchronized swimmers across Canada share my feelings when it comes to the joy of our sport. When you finish a challenging workout or performance, you are proud of yourself and what you’ve accomplished. You soon realize the harder you work, the better you feel. You learn the benefit of sacrifice. You recognize the need for time management. Even when you lose you soon realize it is not the end of the world. You get stronger. You work harder. You set a goal and you fight hard to achieve it. When you choose to support Synchro Canada, you create a foundation for young women across Canada to use the power of sport and self-discipline to create their best life. I hope you take a moment right now, while you are thinking of it, to share what you can. The Club Excellence Program is in its third year. Teams from across Canada are already benefitting from this innovative initiative. Together we will grow the program and sometime soon, in a pool near you, a young woman will take her first dive into a cool, deep pool. She will hear the music. She will glide effortlessly through the water. She will be hooked. Her life will change forever. Thank you.
Sincerely yours, PS The Club Excellence Program is open to every Canadian synchro club. Your donation will go directly into the development of young Canadian synchronized swimmers. I endorse the Club Excellence Program as it brings out the best in the synchro family and the community. Your support is greatly appreciated.
