Synchro Canada finalizes its coaching staff for the 2010 FINA World Junior Championship

synchro_canada.jpgOttawa, March 10, 2010 – Synchro Canada named Lyne Piché of Boisbriand, Que., and Jenn Tregale of Calgary as assistant coaches for Canada’s national junior team head coach Meng Chen for the FINA World Junior Championships August 11-15 in Indianapolis.

The announcement was made on opening day at the Eastern and Atlantic divisional championships being held March 10-14 in Quebec City.

"Our objective is the development of synchronized swimming in Canada and to always improve national team performances, including at the 2010 FINA World Junior Championships," said Synchro Canada national head coach Denise Sauvé.  "Over the past few years, Lyne and Jenn have shown they have the skills to bring this team to the top.  For us, their selection is another step towards that goal."

"I am very pleased to work with Lyne Piché and Jenn Tregale leading up to the 2010 FINA World Junior Championships," said Meng Chen, head coach of the national junior team.  "We will have an experienced coaching staff, the best this team could possibly have.  I am already looking forward to working with them in preparation for the world juniors."

Lyne Piché
Lyne Piché of Boisbriand brings more than 30 years coaching experience in synchronized swimming.  Along with her work with Dollard Synchro, Aquana and Alliance, Lyne Piché is a certified Level 3 coach with the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP).  She has plenty of international experience.  She was the assistant coach for the national junior team at the last FINA World Junior Championships in 2008 as well as head coach of the national under-15 team in 2006 and co-head coach with the same squad in 2007.  She was an assistant coach with the national B team at three international events.  She was also head coach for Team Quebec’s synchro squad at the 1991 and 1995 Canada Games and its assistant coach in 2007.

Jenn Tregale
Jenn Tregale of Calgary has 20 years coaching experience in the sport and been head coach at the Calgary Aquabelles Club since 2004.  She is currently completing her level 4 NCCP certification and she also brings an impressive international resume.  She was the national team head coach at the Pan Am Junior Championships in 2009, the national B team head coach at the 2008 Swiss Open as well as the national junior team head coach at the 2007 U.S. Open Championships.  Jenn Tregale was also at the FINA World Junior Championships in 1993 as well as the Commonwealth Games and FINA World Aquatic Championships in 1994.

At the 2008 FINA World Junior Championships in St. Petersburg, Russia, which attracted 26 countries, Canada earned two medals.  Chloé Isaac won silver in the solo event and added a bronze with Jo-Annie Fortin in the duet.
