Newfoundland and Labrador
The
2008-2009 Mount Pearl Tier 6 team has been named Mount Pearl Team of
the Year at the 21st Annual Focus On Youth Awards Show, May 12, 2010.
The team, ranked according to their community involvement, school
performance and athletic performance, beat three other sporting teams.
Congratulations to Laura Osmond, Gillian Sullivan, Jessica Reid, Robyn
French, Jessica McCormick, Laura Ings, Melissa Good, Jessica Collins
and their coaches. Here is the presentation text: In their first crack
on the national stage, the Mount Pearl Synchro Tier 6 Team won the Gold
Medal at the Eastern Atlantic Divisional in Toronto. This team is very
dedicated to their sport, spending on average 13 pool hours, 4 martial
arts hours and 3 gymnastic hours in training each week. The group is
also very active in the community and regularly participates in food
drives and fundraisers.

Council President Sarah-Ève Pelletier have been named broadcast
attorney for the International Olympic Committee. Congratulations!
