Simoneau tabulated 76.730 points with Mathilde Sauvé of Quebec City (Synchro Élite) second at 73.961 and Anne-Marie Chouinard of Montreal (Montréal Synchro) third at 73.515. The figures were an important event at these Espoir nationals as the top-25 gained a berth for the selection camp that follows these championships. The camp, set for June 6-7 in Montreal, will determine the 2010 Canadian national 13-15 team scheduled to compete at the Comen Cup in Chania, Greece, July 21-25. "I was very happy with my performance," said Simoneau, 13, a member of Canada’s national 13-15 team last season. "It wasn’t perfect but I did the best I could. It’s a figures routine I started about two months ago." In the 15 and under duet, Simoneau and Chouinard(Montréal Synchro) in their first season together, lead after the preliminaries with 79.667 points. Caroline Marshall and Claire McGovern of Toronto (Granite Synchro) are second at 74.833 and Jordan McKenzie and Kali Wong of Calgary (Calgary Aquabelles) are third at 74.500. "We had one of our best swims," said Chouinard, 14. "We showed a lot of strength on our movements and worked really well together. The fact that we are very good friends has really helped us improve quickly as a duet." In the Tier 6 (16 and over) Team event, Synchro Les Dauphines is leading afher the prelims (routine and figures) with 70.031 points. Vestales Élite Rive-Sud is second with 69.986 points and Club aquatique Edouard-Montpetit is third with 69.986 points.
