  2. 2011 Eastern/Atlantic Divisionals Championships in Etobicoke
    Synchro Canada is pleased to announce that the 2011 Eastern/Atlantic Divisionals Championships will be held at the Olympium Swimming Pool Complex in Etobicoke, Ontario, and will be hosted by the Waterloo Regional Synchro Club.   3. Synchro TO won 10 titles at the 2010 National Masters Championships
    Nearly 70 synchronized swimmers between the ages of 22 and 73 years took part at the 2010 National Masters Championships June 18-19 in Burnaby, British Columbia. Synchro TO won 10 age group titles while the Toronto Tsunamis Masters Synchro, Vancouver Masters Synchro and Olympium Synchronized Swim Club won four, Seattle Cascades Synchro Club, three, and KW Synchronized Swimming Club, two.   4. Canada won three silver medals at the 2010 Spanish Open
    Canada won three silver medals last weekend at Spanish Open in the free team, technical team and combo events. The Canadian team members were Cassidy Beaver-Nicol (Westwold, B.C.), Geneviève Bélanger (Laval, QC), Claire Friesen (Calgary, AB), Sandy Gill (Coquitlam, B.C.), Audrey Houle (Gentilly, QC), Lisa Mikelberg (Montreal, QC), Marie-Lou Morin (Montreal, QC), Catherine Powell (Montreal, QC), Marie Rondeau (Quebec City, QC), and Anne-Marie Vézina (L’Ancienne-Lorette, QC). Kasia Kulesza (Laval, QC) and Khadija Cutcher (Winnipeg, MB) were the coaches accompanying the swimmers. "We are very excited about our performance," said Marie-Lou Morin. "Our energy level was very high and we closed the gap on Spain which is quite an accomplishment considering we are in their country."   7. July 1st to 4th: donate $2 in support of the Canada Games
    The Forzani Group, Ltd., Canada’s largest national retailer of sporting goods, has extended its support of the Canada Games to include fundraising efforts as part of a Canada Day promotion with its corporate and franchise locations across Canada. From July 1 to July 4, donate $2 to support the Canada Games at any corporate Sport Chek, Sport Mart, Atmosphere, Hockey Experts or Athlete’s World store and receive $5 off your next purchase. In Quebec, franchise Sports Experts, Atmosphere and Hockey Experts locations will match your donation when you donate $2 in support of the Canada Games. Every dollar that is raised through the promotion will go directly to help fund the Canada Games Movement.

  9. Chevrolet Making Dreams Possible Club Coaching Grants
    The Coaching Association of Canada (CAC) is pleased to announce that the Chevrolet Making Dreams Possible Club Coaching Grant applications are now back online! This fall, another 50+ $2,000 grants will be awarded to community sport clubs across the country for coach training and development. The application deadline is September 27, 2010.   10. Investors Group Community Coaching Conferences Grants
    The Coaching Association of Canada (CAC), through the sponsorship of Investors Group Inc., is pleased to provide financial assistance (from $600 to $1,200) to communities and organizations interested in hosting a Community Coaching Conference. If your organization is planning to host a conference this year, visit http://www.coach.ca/ig/e/ccc/about.htm to learn how you can receive up to $1,200 to cover your expenses.

  11. A bursary for Sarah Brunin-Brouillette
    Sarah Brunin-Brouillette, member of the 2010 Junior National Team, is one of the recipients of the 2010 La Capitale Financial Group bursary program part of the Quebec Foundation for Athletic Excellence. Bursary recipients must be eligible to represent Canada at Olympic Games, Paralympic Games, Pan-American Games, Commonwealth Games, World University Games or World Championships in their sport. They also need to be engaged in a high performance training and competition program and studying on a part-time or full-time basis in preparation for a career after sports. Congratulations Sarah!   12. RBC seeks Canadian Olympic and Paralympic athletes for its community ambassador program
    RBC announced its annual search for national team athletes or retired Canadian Olympic and Paralympic athletes to be a part of the RBC Olympians Program. Now in its ninth year, the program provides Canadian athletes with valuable work experience and funding to help them succeed in competition and in life after sport. RBC is looking for a number of national team athletes or retired Olympians and Paralympians to apply for the RBC Olympians Program, in major cities across Canada for a one-year contract beginning in September 2010.
