The Canadian team members selected are Marie-Pier Boudreau-Gagnon (Rivière-du-Loup, QC), Chloé Isaac (Brossard, QC) and Élise Marcotte (L’Ancienne-Lorette, QC). Boudreau-Gagnon will compete in the solo event and in duet with Isaac. Marcotte is the duet substitute. Julie Sauvé is the coach. "Since synchronized swimming became a Commonwealth Games sport in 1986, Canada has won all 14 gold medals. The goal in 2010 is to continue our domination," said Synchro Canada’s CEO Catherine Gosselin-Després. "It was an absolute pleasure for me to meet our Synchro athletes and coaches in April at their national training centre, where they presented their Delhi routine," said Canada’s Chef de Mission Martha Deacon. "It is great that the team combines Marie-Pier Boudreau-Gagnon and Élise Marcotte, two veterans with Olympic experience, with Chloé Isaac, who will experience her first multi-sport Games. I look forward to cheering on these athletes in Delhi." In 2006 in Melbourne, Boudreau-Gagnon earned the gold in solo and duet. Isaac and Marcotte will be making their Commonwealth Games debut. The synchro events at the Games are set for October 6 and 7. The Canadian team also wants to continue its return to the world elite. At the 2009 FINA World Aquatic Championships, Boudreau-Gagnon, Isaac and Marcotte were part of the Canadian team that won bronze in the team combo event. Boudreau-Gagnon also earned bronze in the technical solo event. The Canadian team followed that performance with a victory at the 2009 FINA World Trophy, a first podium finish for Canada in the four-year history of the event which included Canada’s first perfect marks since 1997. In addition Boudreau-Gagnon finished second to the world champion in the free solo event while Canada repeated its performance from the 2009 FINA World Aquatic Championships placing third in the team combo competition. In 2010, Boudreau-Gagnon and Isaac took silver in the free duet and technical duet at the Japan Open while Canada earned gold in the team technical, free and combo events. Marie-Pier Boudreau-Gagnon also won the gold medal at the free and technical solo events. At the China Open, Boudreau-Gagnon won the technical and free gold medals.
