Synchro Canada is pleased to name its annual award winners which were announced at the Annual General Assembly October 22-24 in Banff, Alta.
The recipients were elected based on nominations put forth by Synchro Canada members. The final selections were made by Synchro Canada’s Awards Committee.

Also on the weekend Synchro Canada determined its Board of Directors for the upcoming year.
President:
Lisa Schott (Calgary, AB, continues her mandate)

Janice MacLellan (Whitby, ON, continues her mandate)
Henry Scheil (Calgary, AB, continues his mandate)
Mario Welsh (Saint-Nicholas, QC, re-elected for two years)
Pat McCann (Cobourg, ON, new member)
Courtney Brown (London, ON, Athlete’s Council President)
Synchro Canada would also like to thank Sheilagh Croxon for her two years of service to Synchro Canada’s Board of Directors. She decided not to seek re-election this year.

Athlete of the Year:
Jacqueline Simoneau (Montréal Synchro, Montreal, QC, borough Saint-Laurent)
(This award recognizes an athlete of Synchro Canada who has had significant success in synchronized swimming.)
Bridge Builder Award:
Chris Hampshire (Calgary, AB)
(This award recognizes a member who works today in order that those who follow tomorrow will find safety, strength and success in the sport of Synchronized Swimming; who demonstrates vision and flexibility for the future, as well as respect for Synchro Canada’s rich past and as a « Bridge Builder » paves the road to tomorrow with their encouragement and achievements; who has initiated, continued a program, event or endeavor that allows for future growth and development in Synchronized Swimming in Canada; and who, by their actions and attitude, works to build bridges that span ability, age and distance in order to position Canadian Synchronized Swimming as a world leader.)
Distinguished Member Award:
Marie-Hélène Morneau (Synchro Élite, Quebec City, QC)
(This award recognizes a member of Synchro Canada who has made an exceptional contribution to the "art as well as the sport" of synchronized swimming.)
Board of Directors Honour Award:
Audrey Scribney (Calgary, AB)
(This award is given to a member of the synchro community who, in the judgment of the Board of Directors, has made a significant contribution to the development of the sport of synchronized swimming for twenty-five (25) years or more.)
Administrator of the Year Award:
Lucille Carter (Alexandra, P.E.I.)
(This award recognizes a member of Synchro Canada who has made a significant contribution to synchronized swimming in an administrative role.)
Sylvie Fortier Award:
Saskatchewan
(This award recognizes the provincial association who had the highest membership growth percentage in the last year.)
President Award:
Pat Cooley (Rostern, Saskatchewan) and Janice McLaughlin (Brampton, Ontario)
(This award is given to members of the Synchro community who, in the judgment of the Board of Directors, have shown commitment and dedication to synchro for fifteen (15) years or more of volunteer service to Synchro Canada.)
The Silver Pin Award:
Sandy Holmquist (Calgary, AB) and Carol Spensley (Calgary, AB)
(This award is given to members of the Synchro community who, in the judgment of the Board of Directors, have contributed significantly for ten (10) or more years of volunteer service to Synchro Canada.)
The Certificate of Merit :
(This award is given to members of the Synchro community who in the judgment of the Board of Directors, have contributed significantly for three (3) or more years of volunteer service to Synchro Canada)
