|Resume of McGill Meet 2010|
By Sabrina Lekadir, secretary for the Canadian University Synchro Swim League (CUSSL)
The McGill Meet was held on Saturday November 13th and it was the first meet of the season for CUSSL. It was held in the Memorial Pool at the Sports Complex of McGill University.
The meet started with warm-up and spacing for all teams and then the competition started around 2:30pm. There were 2 novice solos, 1 novice trio and 2 novice teams. There was also 1 competitive solo, 3 competitive duets and 9 competitive teams.
In the novice team competition, John Abbott University placed first and McGill University came a close second. In the competitive team competition, the McGill White team (picture) placed first; they were followed by Waterloo/Laurier in 2nd place and Queen’s Yellow team in 3rd place.
There was a great crowd of spectators all day long so the pool was full of energy for all the swimmers to have a great swim and put on a great performance. The competition was over by 5:30 pm and then everyone gathered for awards and pizza in a hall on the upper floor of the complex.
McGill University and their meet managers did a wonderful job in hosting this meet. The competition was a great success and CUSSL looks forward to its next meets in the New Year: the Eastern Meet will be taking place at Queen’s in January, the Western Meet will be taking place at UVIC, also in January and our National Meet will be taking place at the University of Toronto in February.
