Espoir Championships feature champions from coast to coast
June 7, 2009 OTTAWA - The Espoir Synchronized Swimming Championships wrapped-up Sunday morning with the finals in combo.
The Calgary Aquabelles won the combo finals with a final score of 79.833, while the KJ-Dollard Synchro Club won silver with a score of 79.500 and Montreal Synchro won bronze with a final score of 77.500.
The championships, held at the Canada Games Aquatic Centre in London, ON, featured over 300 athletes from Synchro clubs from across the country.
Espoir winners included swimmers from B.C., Alberta, Ontario, Quebec, and New Brunswick.
The event was a huge success on all fronts as the athletes were at their best, the volunteers worked diligently and the organizers were to be commended.
Held annually, the Espoir Championships is the most elite of competitions among age-group synchronized swimmers in Canada. “Tier 6” is the second highest level of synchronized swimming in the country.
