jenn_tregale.jpgelena_podolsky.jpgOttawa, April 5, 2011 – Synchro Canada is pleased to announce that Jenn Tregale of Calgary and Elena Podolsky of Toronto have been named respectively head coach of the 2011 Synchro Canada National Junior and 13-15 Teams.

Jenn Tregale, currently head coach of the Calgary Aquabelles, was one of the 2010 Canadian Synchro Canada National Junior FINA World Championship Team assistant coaches. This year, she will lead the National Junior Team to a competition this summer that is yet to be determined. The 2011 National Junior Team members will be finalized after the Canadian Open Championships, April 27—May 1, in Calgary.

Elena Podolsky, currently the head coach of the Etobicoke Olympium club, was the National 13-15 team head coach in 2010 and 2007 and the assistant coach in 2005 and 2009. She will guide the squad in a one-month training camp prior to the 2011 Comen Cup set for August 3-7 in Italy.  The 2011 National 13-15 Team members will be finalized after the Canadian Espoir Championships, June 1-5, in Gatineau, QC.

“Synchro Canada is already preparing its National Senior Team for the 2012 Olympic Games. However, long term planning is also important for us, including the preparation of our rising stars. We believe that Jenn Tregale and Elena Podolsky will be able to share their experience and knowledge so our young athletes, our future Canadian representatives at the Olympic Games, will learn from their great international experiences,” said Catherine Gosselin-Després, Synchro Canada’s Chief Executing Officer.

Over the next few weeks, Jenn Tregale, Elena Podolsky and Synchro Canada will finalize the coaching staff for both teams.

At the 2010 FINA Junior World Championships, Canada won three bronze medals. At the 2010 Comen Cup, the National 13-15 Team won two medals, including one gold in solo and one silver in duet.
