| Canada’s national senior development team collects second silver at Savona Open |

SAVONA, Italy –Canada’s national senior development team capped a solid showing at the Savona Open synchronized swimming competition on Sunday with a silver medal in the team free competition. Italy took the gold medal with 93.013 points, the Canadians followed at 91.826 and Brazil was third at 87.601. The Canadian swimmers were Camille Bowness (Beaconsfield, QC), Gabrielle Cardinal (Saint-Lambert, QC), Sandy Gill (Coquitlam, B.C.), Marie-Lou Morin (Montreal, QC), Lisa Mickelberg (Montreal, QC), Annabelle Frappier (Mont-Saint-Hilaire, QC ), Erin Willson (Toronto, ON) and Emilia Kopcik (Surrey, B.C.). ‘’We swam like champions,’’ said Morin. ‘’We had great energy in the water, it was fantastic. We had a young team and got a great reaction from the crowd and great comments from other coaches and judges. We showed there’s a lot of depth in synchronized swimming in Canada.’’ Canadian coach Meng Chen was also pleased. ‘’Performance wise it was very strong,’’ said Chen. ‘’It was great for us to have this opportunity and have our young swimmers gain some important international experience so they can grow and improve.’’ On Saturday, Canada also won the silver medal in the team combo event.
