2012 National and Divisional championships are currently confirmed for Quebec City, Victoria and Winnipeg
Ottawa, June 22, 2011 - Synchro Canada is pleased to announce several of its confirmed hosts for the 2012 National and Divisional championships.
Synchro Canada’s championship schedule includes five annual competitions : the Eastern/Atlantic Divisional Championships and Western Divisional Championships are the qualifying events for the Canadian Open Championships and the Canadian Espoir Championships. Synchro Canada also presents an annual Canadian Masters Championship.
Quebec City: Host of the 2012 Eastern/Atlantic Divisional Championships
Synchro Canada’s 2012 Eastern/Atlantic Divisional Championships will be hosted March 13-18 by Synchro Elite and Synchro Québec in Quebec City (pool to be confirmed). In 2011, nearly 400 athletes from Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Prince-Edward-Island, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland-and-Labrador took part in this event held in Etobicoke, Ontario.
Winnipeg: Host of the 2012 Western Divisional Championships
Synchro Canada’s 2012 Western Divisional Championships will be hosted March 29-April 1st by Synchro Manitoba in Winnipeg, Manitoba. In 2011, nearly 220 athletes from Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba and Saskatchewan took part in this event in Regina, Saskatchewan.
The Eastern/Atlantic and Western Divisional Championships are the qualifying competitions for the Canadian Open Championships for the athletes in the 16-18, junior and senior categories. The Divisional Championships are also the qualifying competitions for 13-15 age group athletes to participate in the 2012 Canadian Espoir Championships.
Victoria: Host of the 2012 Canadian Open Championships
In 2012, Synchro Canada’s Canadian Open Championships will be held May 2-6 in Victoria, British Columbia. In 2011, 330 athletes from across Canada took part in this competition held in Calgary, Alberta.
At this competition, Junior athletes will attempt to qualify for the 2012 National Junior Team. The selection of the National Junior Team will take place during and following the Canadian Open. The National Junior Team will represent Canada at the 2012 FINA Junior World Championships.
Synchro Canada is still finalizing locations for the presentation of the 2012 Canadian Espoir and Masters Championships.
The Canadian Espoir Championships are currently scheduled for May 23-27, 2012 (location to be confirmed). In 2011, 220 athletes from across Canada took part in this competition in Gatineau, Quebec. Athletes in the 13-15 category will attempt to qualify for Synchro Canada’s 2012 13-15 National Team, which will participate int the 2012 Comen Cup.
Synchro Canada’s 2012 Canadian Masters Championships are currently schedule for April 28-29 (location to be confirmed). In 2011, 106 athletes from across Canada took part in this competition held in Montreal. A synchronized swimmer competes in the « master » category if she is 19 years old or older and if she is not competing in the Synchro Canada high performance system.
