- 2011 Synchro Canada Convention: registration deadline is October 7
You still have ONE week left to register for Synchro Canada’s 1st Annual Convention which will be held November 18-20 at the Sheraton Hotel in St. John’s, Newfoundland-and-Labrador. Registration deadline is October 7. Download the registration form and the schedule, including more details about each workshop.
- 2011 Synchro Canada Volunteer Awards
The Synchro Canada Volunteer Awards 2011 represent your opportunity to nominate individuals within your province who have made a significant ontribution to our sport. The winners will be presented during the Volunteers Awards Banquet on Saturday November 19th, 2011 during the Synchro Canada Convention in St. John’s, NL. Deadline to send the nomination form is October 21st, 2011. More details, including the nomination form.
- Letter from Synchro Canada
Next week, Synchro Canada will send a letter to all its members about nutrition for synchronized swimmers and including new initiatives coming up. This letter is not only aimed to inform the provinces, but more specifically the athletes, the parents of them and the clubs. Synchro Canada is asking the PSO’s to forward this letter to their membership. The topic of nutrition is always a hot one and Synchro Canada wants to ensure all its members, from beginners to the high performance levels, are aware of the efforts being made in this area and trust the sport organization to keep our athletes health and well-being a priorité. Thank you for your collaboration!
- Isabelle Lecompte: new coordinator at the Centre of Excellence
Synchro Canada is pleased to announce the hiring of Isabelle Lecompte as the new coordinator at the Centre of Excellence. Isabelle has approximately 10 years of experience coordinating logistics for teams and events as the Events and Competitions Coordinator at the Quebec Soccer Federation. Isabelle is bilingual and will start her role on October 11. You can reach her by email at

- New red mittens unveiled: helping Canadian athletes go for gold in London 2012
Building on momentum from the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games in celebrating Canadian athletes, the Canadian Olympic Foundation is proud to launch the next generation of its iconic Canadian Olympic Team Red Mittens for fall 2011, in partnership with the Hudson’s Bay Company. For every $10-dollar pair of mittens sold, three dollars goes towards supporting Canadian Olympic Team athletes as they prepare for the Olympic Games in London in 2012. More details.

The International Day of the Girl came one step closer to reality on Sept 22. Postcards and pins were distributed to MPs, explaining the importance of creating the International Day of the Girl, and many of them wore the pin in Parliament to show their commitment, and spoke out in support of it!
