Synchro Canada introduces its national senior team members preparing for the 2012 Olympic Games
london2012.jpgOttawa, November 3, 2011 - Synchro Canada is proud to introduce its 12 member national senior squad which was selected to train together towards determining the final line-up that will be submitted to the Canadian Olympic Committee for the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

The Canadian team will be reduced to nine members a few weeks before the Olympic Games as outlined in the International Olympic Committee’s regulations.

These athletes were selected following a one-day team trial which was held on October 28 at Synchro Canada’s Centre of Excellence located at the Centre d’excellence des sports aquatiques du Québec at the Olympic Park Sport Centre pool in Montreal.

The athletes at the selection camp were evaluated by two Canadian FINA international judges who submitted their recommendations to the other selection committee members including the domestic technical director and Synchro Canada’s high performance manager as well as Synchro Canada’s Centre of Excellence coaching staff.

‘’I am very pleased with the 12 athletes we selected that will prepare together for the Olympic Games in London,’’ said coach Julie Sauvé.  ‘’The athletes on the team are use to training together for long periods and have also experienced major events over the past few years.  There is already chemistry between these athletes.’’

‘’The nomination of this specific training group as well as qualifying for London 2012 at the 2011 Pan American Games nine months from the start of the Olympics will allow to focus solely on creating spectacular routines’’, said Sauvé.  ‘’We believe this advantage, that we didn’t have in 2008, will allow us to attain that difficult goal of stepping on the Olympic podium in 2012.’’
