  1. Synchro Canada introduces its national senior team members preparing for the 2012 Olympic Games
    Synchro Canada is proud to introduce its 12 member national senior squad which was selected to train together towards determining the final line-up that will be submitted to the Canadian Olympic Committee for the 2012 Olympic Games in London. The Canadian team will be reduced to nine members a few weeks before the Olympic Games as outlined in the International Olympic Committee’s regulations. ‘’I am very pleased with the 12 athletes we selected that will prepare together for the Olympic Games in London,’’ said coach Julie Sauvé.  ‘’The athletes on the team are use to training together for long periods and have also experienced major events over the past few years.  There is already chemistry between these athletes. ’The nomination of this specific training group as well as qualifying for London 2012 at the 2011 Pan American Games nine months from the start of the Olympics will allow to focus solely on creating spectacular routines’’, said Sauvé.  ‘’We believe this advantage, that we didn’t have in 2008, will allow us to attain that difficult goal of stepping on the Olympic podium in 2012.’’ Check out the press release

  2. Synchro Canada's Senior National Team named Team of the Year by the Aquatic Federation of Canada
    Aquatic Federation of Canada named Synchro Canada’s synchronized swimming national team team of the year for its golden performance in the team event at the Pan American Games.  Those Games were the primary focus for this season as it allowed Canada to qualify for the 2012 Olympic Games in London and capped a solid season as Canada continued its return to the world’s elite.   3. Demos of Synchro Canada’s Senior National B Team at Saint-Hyacinthe Saturday, November 5
    Come and see Synchro Canada’s Senior National B Team Saturday, November 5, from 1:30 to 3:45 pm, at the new Aquatic Centre in Saint-Hyacinthe (450, rue Turcot). Presented during the official opening of the aquatic centre, local club les Vestales will present some routines with the National Team members who will swim those for the 2011 FINA World Trophy. Everybody is welcome!

  4. Return of Jadine Cleary
    Please note that Jadine Cleary is back to work in her Domestic Technical Director role since November 1st after her maternity leave. Synchro Canada would like to thanks Khadija Cutcher, Jennifer Langlois and Vivianne Slade for sustaining the area and make it progress during that time.

  5. 2012 Competitions Calendar
    Here are the competition dates for the 2012 Divisional and National Competitions.  Please note that these dates reflects the day of spacing and the final day of competition.  The tentative detailed schedule for each competition will be circulated following the committee’s meeting scheduled later in November.  We would like to thank you in advance for your understanding towards this matter.

    2012 Eastern/Atlantic Divisional
    Lucien Flamant Pool, Quebec City, QC
    March 6-11, 2012
    Spacing: Tuesday March 6th in the morning
    Final day of competition: Sunday March 11 at approx 5 pm

    2012 Western Divisional
    Pan Am Swimming Complex, Winnipeg, MB
    March 29-April 1
    Spacing: Thursday March 29th in the morning
    Final day of competition: Sunday April 1st at approx. 1 pm

    2012 Canadian Open Championships
    Commonwealth Pool, Victoria, B.C.
    May 1-6
    Spacing: Tuesday May 1st in early afternoon
    Final day of competition: Sunday May 6th at approx. 6 pm
    Phase 1 and 2 figures for the National Junior Team selection will be held during the Canadian Open Championships this year.  All participants will be able to return home following the Championships on Sunday May 6th (the rest will be included in a selection camp).

    2012 Canadian Espoir Championships
    Olympium Aquatic Centre, Etobicoke, ON
    May 23-27
    Spacing: Wednesday May 23rd all day
    Final day of competition: Sunday May 27th at approx. 3 pm

  6. Two new athletes at Synchro Canada’s Centre of Excellence
    Synchro Canada welcomed two new athletes who are now training this season at its Centre of Excellence. Janelle Ball (Dollard-des-Ormeaux, QC, Dollard Synchro) and Katie McLeod (Dollard-des-Ormeaux, QC, Dollard Synchro) joined Synchro Canada’s Senior National B Team. Welcome!

  7. Departure of Kristen Brawley
    Please note that Kristen Brawley, who has worked six years with Synchro Canada, will leave us prior to Christmas to pursue new exciting challenges with the Sport Canada Pan Am 2015 Secretariat. Synchro Canada is very happy with this opportunity that she has and knows Kristen will raise to the challenge and will do a great job supporting all sports in her new role. However, Synchro Canada is sad to see her go but wish Kristen the best of luck in her new role. In the next few weeks, Synchro Canada will communicate more information on the next steps for the position during the Olympic year.

  8. New Competition-Development Course in Edmonton
    Synchro Canada will held a new Competition-Development Course in Edmonton December 3-4. The course will be on the modules Planning a practice-2, managing a sport program and developing athletic abilities. Sherry Robertson and Jaime Thompson will be the learning facilitators. A second course for the other three modules is being schedules for the new year.   9. Club Excellence Program
    Check out next week newsletter which will include information on the 2011-2012 Club Excellence Program. Small changes have been made to the program, but the majority of it is consistent with previous years. The Club Excellence Program application form will be available next week.

  10. Looking for pictures for Synchro Canada’s Long Term Athlete Development program document
    Synchro Canada is working on it's Long Term Athlete Development program. This document is in accordance with Canadian Sport 4 Life and has mandates by Sport Canada to be developed by each National Sport Organization. Synchro Canada is presently looking for photo's that we can use in the manual. This manual will be used by coaches and provincial associations from across Canada. Synchro Canada is looking for HIGH RESOLUTION photo's that are age related (age categorires: 5-6, 7-9, 8-11, 11-15, 15-21+, Masters) in-water action shots, technical shots as well as any land based shots (showing flexibility, strength and conditionning, landdrill, team building, etc). All photo's will be acknowledged.     Leanne McDonnell
    Leanne McDonnell lost her mother Kay Puglsey October 31 at the age of 90. Leanne McDonnelle is a long time volunteer for Synchro Swim Ontario as board member, officiela, chair and participant on many committees over a lot of year and also the founder of Waterloo Regional Synchronized Swimming Club. Synchro Canada would like to offer our sincerest condolences to Leanne and her family.

    Valérie Hould-Marchand
    Canadian synchronized swimming Olympian Valérie Hould-Marchand is amongst one of 37 Canadian athletes who will join the 2011-2012 RBC Olympians Program. Congratulations! More details.

    Synchro Québec
    Synchro Quebec would like to invite your clubs to an Inter-Provincial competition that wild be held in Quebec city on the 21-22 of April 2012. More details (French only).

    Terra Nova Aqua Elite Masters Club
    On October 13-15, the Terra Nova Aqua Elite Masters Synchronized Swimming team attended the U.S.A. Masters in Roseville, California. The team placed second in the 20-29 age group and attained the second highest scores of the meet. The team members were Charlotte Allison, Kim Burrage, Sarah Burrage, Shannon Driscoll, Allison DeLong, Katy Eldridge, Rebecca Gladney, Holly Whelan and coach Laura Cole. The athletes also participated in the Guiness Book of World Records attempt at the largest Pink Ribbon Floating Pattern in recognition of Breast Cancer awareness month. The record was successful completed with 286 swimmers.

    Carolyn Waldo
    Carolyn Waldo took part in an event in Ottawa for Easter Seals called "Dancing with the Stars" for charity. She is paired up with a professionnal and will be performing two different routines (jive and tango) and then be judged. Figure skater Liz Manley is also taking part to the event.
