Ottawa, December 5, 2011 – Synchro Canada will send a team of 12 athletes to the 2011 FINA World Trophy which will be held December 9-11 in Beijing, China.The majority of National Team members taking part in this competition are part of Synchro Canada’s 2011-2012 Senior National B team. The other 2 athletes, Geneviève Bélanger (Laval, QC) and Erin Willson (Toronto, ON), are amongst the 12 member national senior squad which was selected in October to train together towards determining the final line-up of nine athletes that will be nominated to the Canadian Olympic Committee for the 2012 Olympic Games. Synchro Canada’s National Team competing at the 2011 FINA World Trophy is completed with Camille Bowness (Beaconsfield, QC), Annabelle Frappier (Mont-Saint-Hilaire, QC), Rachel Fréchette (Deux-Montagnes, QC), Sandy Gill (Coquitlam, B.C.), Emilia Kopcik (Surrey, B.C.), Rachel Kowalski (Kitchener, ON), Rebecca Maule (Guelph, ON), Lisa Mikelberg (Hamstead, QC), Marie-Lou Morin (Westmount, QC) and Marie Rondeau (Quebec City, QC). Geneviève Bélanger and Rachel Fréchette will represent Canada in the Thematic Duet event. Canada will also take part in the Acrobatics Routine, Free Team and Combo events. Lyne Piché and Kasia Kulesza are the team coaches. This is the 6th edition of the FINA World Trophy, the most spectacular competition in the synchronized swimming international calendar. The performances will be judged solely on artistic merit and the athletes will be allowed to use original costumes and accessories.
