Emilia Kopcik first became interested in synchronized swimming in 2003. After trying different sports, the athlete from Surrey, British Columbia, decided to register at the Pacific Sport Aquasonics synchronized swimming club.
Four years later, at age 14, she decided to move out from her parents’ home to train with the Montreal Synchro club in Montreal, QC. She wanted to follow the path of her sister, Dominika, who was a member of the National Team at the 2008 Olympic Games.
In the Fall of 2009, at just 16 years old, Emilia Kopcik was invited to join the national team. A few months later, she was selected to the Canadian team who won the 4th FINA World Trophy held in Montreal. In 2010, she won three bronze medals at the FINA World Junior Championships as a member of Synchro Canada’s Junior National Team which is, for her, one of her best experiences so far in her young career.
Emilia Kopcik is studying Commerce at Dawson College. She wishes one day to be at the Olympic Games with her teammates, which she considers her second family. |
