Rebecca Maule started synchronized swimming in 1999 at the Guelph Synchro club after she saw some competition suits and action videos of the team at a registration table in a mall. Eleven years later, she qualified for the Centre of Excellence in the Senior National B Synchronized Swimming Team, a sport that she still considers today as the ultimate aquatic sport.
In between, she qualified on Synchro Canada’s 2009 and 2010 Junior National Team. In 2010, she was part of the Canadian team who won a bronze medal in the team event at the FINA World Junior Championships, her best memory so far in her career.
Rebecca Maule is studying Geography – Human Environment at the Concordia University. She would then like to become a teacher. “The skills and experience that I have gained from my synchronized swimming career will help me to be a great teacher”, she said.
Regarding her sport career, she would like to take part in other World Championships, in the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto in front of a hometown crowd, and to be on the podium for Canada at the 2016 Olympic Games.
